Music videos that are similar to my ideas

Daaru Desi - From 'Cocktail'

Daaru Desi is a music video from a Bollywood movie called, "Cocktail." Despite being a movie about drama and romance, it evokes many aspects of friendship throughout the movie. The reason why I have selected this is because it strongly correlates to my initial ideas for my music video, some of which are; Three friends having fun and messing around, each character has a bubbly and eccentric persona and single male character equally connects with two female characters. Therefore, this music video perfectly portrays this through each character's behaviour. There are many long shots and medium shots as the music video mainly focuses on each character's gestures, motives and the interaction between the three friends. The use of vibrant and vivid colours throughout the music video adds to the eccentric atmosphere that is already created and sets of radiant and joyous vibe. The music video follows a narrative as it is already contained within the movie. Despite sharing similar personality traits, each character's appearance is represented differently. One of the female characters are portrayed in a sexualised manner through her choice of clothing, whereas, the other is represented as quite simple and plain jane. The male character wears casual clothing connoting him as chilled and laid back.

We Are Not Alone - From 'The Breakfast Club'

This is a dance scene from the classic movie, 'The Breakfast Club.' I intend to use intertextuality from this scene, therefore, is the reason why I have selected it to use a comparison. Despite this reason, the characters are portrayed as eccentric, spontaneous and carefree which is similar to the way I want my characters to be perceived as in my music video. Each character is represented in a contrasting way through their appearance, a clear contrast being between the characters 'Claire' and 'Allison,' Claire being the classy, prestige and elegant girl, whereas, Allison is portrayed as a reclusive loner with a gothic style. There is only one setting throughout the movie which is a stereotypical school which correlates with the whole concept of the movie which is about the portrayal of teenage life. Finally, the use of high key lighting within this scene promotes a jovial vibe.
