The typical conventions in a pop music video involve;
- Bright and vivid colours
- Close up shots as it can convey upbeat emotions
- Extreme close up shots as it can convey the persona of a character and emphasise their emotions
- Often aimed at a younger audience (ideally those aged 16 and above)
- Very upbeat
- The narrative often highlights a relationship or breakup and if it is performance based, there is often a dance routine
