The typical conventions in a pop music video involve;

  1. Bright and vivid colours
  2. Close up shots as it can convey upbeat emotions 
  3. Extreme close up shots as it can convey the persona of a character and emphasise their emotions
  4. Often aimed at a younger audience (ideally those aged 16 and above)
  5. Very upbeat
  6. The narrative often highlights a relationship or breakup and if it is performance based, there is often a dance routine
